Beware of the Leaven

08 Nov

The Pharisees are often well hidden.

“And He was giving orders to them, saying, “Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.” Mar 8:15

To understand the intent of Jesus’ statement we need to understand what a Pharisee is in spirit, and keep in mind this has ramifications beyond the literal.

The word Pharisee according to Strongs means “a separatist, that is, exclusively religious;”

A Pharisee speaks a word that has Truth, that are from God, yet there is a lack of submission to God, hence the separation. In other words they are moral in their relationship. Its a simple matter of the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and their rebellion to Him.

A Pharisee can be the most friendly, easy to get along with, and popular individual, yet in the Spirit and Truth is coupled to the antichrist spirit.

Discernment is crucial and in this day of great promise, with so much on the line, we all will do well to heed this warning.

Mark 8
34 And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.
35 “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.
36 “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?
37 “For what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
38 “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
