What is life?
We enter this world full of wonder, intrigue, pain, and beauty and we begin to process the life we have been given, the gift of life came to us without any of our work, or effort, therefore we can say life is indeed a gift.
As we age we are subjected to a myriad of events, and experiences, some that soothe, console, and construct our frame for life. Other events and experiences bring deep pain, sorrow, and they too construct our frame for life.
So we have this frame in which we live life, and we go through each day balancing the good and the bad, the up and the down, and when we are honest, we must ask…what is life…
The shepherd boy that spent many nights in the open under the stars pondered this question.
“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?”
David pondered the intricacy of life, and the beauty of the heavens and sought answers that were apart from him, or from a higher plane than his. This indicates wisdom. David was going to the source of life to seek understanding.
As David could foresee the son of man was in God’s plan, and in time the Son appeared.
As Jesus matured he too sought wisdom, and from this we find how life has meaning. Jesus came to express the meaning of life, and the proper frame to view life through, and this frame is not of the earth, the mortal, or the soul, but of the Spirit.
As his time on earth was complete he instructed the followers to wait, for the counselor, the helper, and the strength to live life. They obeyed and received the Spirit. From this history shows the world was changed by a few who walked, not according to the flesh, but of the spirit. Lives were impacted, the lame walked, the blind gained sight, and the dead were raised.
Today there are saints walking this earth, who through the beauty of grace are and have overcome the lower elementary influences of life, and have sought to live in and through the Spirit. Like the pioneers before them they lay their lives down for our Fathers will. They are given a voice, and this voice is the Spirit of Truth and Love.
They point to the source of life which is Christ, and as they have freely received they freely give the Spirit of Truth and Love.
So what is life? It is quite simple really, to do the will of our Father. To listen to His Son, and live as He lived, by the Spirit.
Our Father has spoke, and here is what He said:
“Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!”
Jesus said to him,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”
