How to Walk

Gen. 17:1 The Lord expressed how Abram was to walk, and although he wasn’t perfect in his walk, he was blameless.

“Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; Walk before Me, and be blameless.
“I will establish My covenant between Me and you, And I will multiply you exceedingly.”
Abram fell on his face…” Genesis 17:1~3a

Abraham was faithful in his walk, learning obedience through the things he suffered. Ismael, lies, and whatever else did not deter him. He kept his focus upon who was leading him, and is an example and encouragement to those of us who walk in the spirit of Isaac, as sons of Abraham.
Our walk is indeed like Abraham’s, we are to allow the Lord to be exactly what He is…Our Lord. Not by our human thinking or strength, but in and through His very presence. This is the intent of His grace. This is what Paul was referring to when he stated; “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.” I Cor.15:10

Today is Ever Present

Jesus said;
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:15

Today is always at hand

Jesus expressed the Kingdom was at hand 2000 years ago, and it at hand today. Our responsibility is to repent, see that our flesh nature is opposed to the Lord. (Rom.8:7)

To live in a state of constant repentance, or openness to Him. To believe the gospel and keep believing His Word, seeing that we only understand in part, and must keep pressing into Him as He is our “Way, Truth, and Life”.

Seeing His Kingdom
It’s not to be seen as historical, though it is, and it’s not to be seen as futuristic, though it is. It’s to be seen as at hand.

When something is at hand, one can reach and obtain it. This is what our Lord is expressing, He and His Kingdom are here and now for us to partake of, to abide in, and to experience today.

The issue is, there are many who teach the gospel from a perspective that limits our understanding. We must come to see that the Living Word is active today. Our response to our Lord is to hear His voice, and repent, which is our duty.

Hebrews 3: 7~19

“Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
In the day of trial in the wilderness,
Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,
And saw My works forty years.
Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they have not known My ways.’
So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’”

Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?  Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?  So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”

Blessing

Learning to Judge Righteously

The inward workmanship of the Lord

Judgement is upon the Lords house. (1 Peter 4:17)  This judgement is for the purpose of cleansing, clearing the temple of the merchants, thieves, and the religious mindset that we all have a proclivity towards. (John 2:18, & Matthew 21: 17 ~ 23)  In the truest sense, this judgement is towards our human or carnal nature. (Romans 8:7)

Judgement leads to proper vision, seeing our vast need for His nature to overtake our corrupt nature, this leads to repentance. (2 Corinthians 7:10)

Repentance leads to proper sorrow, and our asking, seeking and knocking upon the door of His heart. For His very nature to become our nature. (Matthew 7:7,8)

This condition is one the Lord responds to, mercy for our condition, and grace for our growth. Grace is very misunderstood. Grace is the presence of our Lord, and His workmanship inwardly. Grace is the purging of our nature, and the indwelling of His very life. (Malachi 3:2,3)

Grace leads us into a deeper walk, where we once again find His judgement, and the cycle starts over again, this time with more wisdom, trust, responsiveness, and joy.

Paul expressed the purpose of grace:

“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.”
1 Corinthians 15:10

Zeal

There is Life to be seen as we open our hearts to the Word.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 1:12

The words received, power, believe, and on can be brought to life as we look into the Greek language to see their intent.

John 1:12 can be seen as follows;
But as many as associated with Him in a familiar or intimate relationship, to them gave He capacity, competency, freedom to become the sons of God, even to them that commit, their spiritual well-being into His nature.

David saw the life that was in him through the Spirit, and his example is one for us today. There wasn’t any complacency, in David’s spirit, he was indeed a man after God’s own heart.

The following expression from David, captures the intent or heart the Lord is looking for in us.

Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly; Be to me a rock of strength, A stronghold to save me.
For You are my rock and my fortress; For Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me.
You will pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me, For You are my strength.
Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have ransomed me, O LORD, God of truth.
Psalm 31:2~5

May the zeal of the Lord of Hosts consume our hearts.

Becoming His Will

The will of our Father, is to become His Will

To have a open heart, humility, is to walk humbly before Him.

To then couple this with hearing, listening to His voice, is to have our hearts tuned to the Living Word.

To then couple this with obedience, as James stated, doers of the Word, this is Faith and works in action, all in His grace. His grace is another term for His presence. We even used the term “they graced us with their presence”.

To then couple this with moving, speaking, demonstrating the will of our Father, this is His perfect will. Paul’s comment expresses this, Paul was a channel of the Lords will, and from this he stated “in Him we move and find our being”.  This is found in moving into the realm of Spirit, and this is only as we come into agreement with our Father in Spirit and truth.

“two cannot walk together unless they agree” Amos 3:3

The will of our Father is that we become like The Son, in image, likeness, and Spirit. This is to walk in the same Spirit that Jesus walked in. This is the will of our Father, to allow Him to walk in us.

“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”

~ 2 Corinthians 6:16 b

What Paul is expressing here is the coming into the Lord and His Lordship. Thus entering into the realm of Spirit, and allowing the Lord to move in and through us. This is what it means to be in the body of Christ. It has nothing to do with this worlds systems, and everything to do with Heaven, the realm of Spirit.

“as many as are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God”
~ Romans 8:19

In the Lords beckoning call to “come to Me” He is seeking those who will abandon the ways of this world, and its religious trappings, and enter in His covenant relationship.

“Therefore (as the Holy Spirit says, Today if you will hear his voice,

Harden not your hearts, as in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness:

When your fathers tested me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

Therefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

So I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end;

While it is said, Today if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

For some, when they had heard, did provoke: yet not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?

And to whom swore he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”

~ Hebrews 3:7~19

Our Fathers will, is for us to become His will, living sacrifices in  Spirit and Truth.

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.””

 ~ John 4:23, 24

What is Life

What is life?

We enter this world full of wonder, intrigue, pain, and beauty and we begin to process the life we have been given, the gift of life came to us without any of our work, or effort, therefore we can say life is indeed a gift.

As we age we are subjected to a myriad of events, and experiences, some that soothe, console, and construct our frame for life. Other events and experiences bring deep pain, sorrow, and they too construct our frame for life.

So we have this frame in which we live life, and we go through each day balancing the good and the bad, the up and the down, and when we are honest, we must ask…what is life…

The shepherd boy that spent many nights in the open under the stars pondered this question.

“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?”

David pondered the intricacy of life, and the beauty of the heavens and sought answers that were apart from him, or from a higher plane than his. This indicates wisdom. David was going to the source of life to seek understanding.

As David could foresee the son of man was in God’s plan, and in time the Son appeared.

As Jesus matured he too sought wisdom, and from this we find how life has meaning. Jesus came to express the meaning of life, and the proper frame to view life through, and this frame is not of the earth, the mortal, or the soul, but of the Spirit.

As his time on earth was complete he instructed the followers to wait, for the counselor, the helper, and the strength to live life. They obeyed and received the Spirit. From this history shows the world was changed by a few who walked, not according to the flesh, but of the spirit. Lives were impacted, the lame walked, the blind gained sight, and the dead were raised.

Today there are saints walking this earth, who through the beauty of grace are and have overcome the lower elementary influences of life, and have sought to live in and through the Spirit. Like the pioneers before them they lay their lives down for our Fathers will. They are given a voice, and this voice is the Spirit of Truth and Love.

They point to the source of life which is Christ, and as they have freely received they freely give the Spirit of Truth and Love.

So what is life? It is quite simple really, to do the will of our Father. To listen to His Son, and live as He lived, by the Spirit.

Our Father has spoke, and here is what He said:
“Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!”

Jesus said to him,

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”
