As Jesus walked this earth He was referred to as “good teacher”. His response was “Why callest thou me good? there is none good but One, that is, God.” Mk. 10:18
Today we throw the term good around with little regard for what it truly means. What the Lord was expressing was that mans nature is anything but good. Rom. 8:7
We are not good enough, we are born with a defect that can never become what we want. What is needed is a Spiritual transfusion, His nature becoming our nature, this is only found in our submission to his Lordship.
This same point is emphasized in Isaiah.
“They will come to say of Me, ‘Only in the Lord are righteousness and strength.’ Men will come to Him, and all who were angry at Him and shall be put to shame.
“In the Lord all the offspring of Israel will be justified, and will glory.” Isa. 45: 24, 25
