A True Friend
The weary sojourner unbeknownst to to what lurked in the darkness came upon thugs who beat her to a pulp and left her for dead.
Soon another traveler came by on his way to church, and since he was speaking that day had to keep moving, but with a shallow prayer “be warmed and filled” and pressed on.
Later a well known biblical scholar also happens on, sees her and her condition and intellectually determines that she isn’t his problem, and presses on.
Eventually a young outcast comes upon her, she quickly moves to her side, weeping she lifts her friend and carries her to a care center where her friend can receive true healing. And indeed the wounded sojourner is anointed with oil and wine and recovers.
Life is a heart matter, it’s not what we know, it’s who we become that matters.
