The Need for New

Pressing into the Lord

The sojourn we have in the Lord is one of constant growth, or change. He is stretching us, and calling us to an ever deeper walk in Him. When we find ourselves embracing the Word, yet unable to appropriate the revelation, it is clear we are in need of a new frame of reference, hence the parable found in Luke.

Luke 5

36And He was also telling them a parable: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.

37“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined.

38“But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.

39“And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’”

We become acquainted with the old wine (verse 39) and we taste the New Wine, we favor the old, it’s what we are comfortable with.

When a New Word comes to us, and we struggle with appropriating it, we must repent and seek new wineskins, and then the New Wine can be drank, and appreciated. This is a cycle that continues with each level or cycle the Lord is leading us in, and through.

Blessings
