Patient in Tribulation

The story of Ruth is one of intense beauty, how she saw the character of her mother-in-law, her culture and her expression, and then desires to model her life after Naomi.

What strikes me in this is the fact Naomi was deeply tested. She had left her homeland, to dwell in a culture that was vastly different than hers. She lost her husband, and then later her two sons.

Naomi knew it was of the Lord, during all that was transpiring still exhibited a trait that Ruth was drawn to, there was something in Naomi, character that was exhibited in patience, wisdom, and trust.

Eventually Naomi and Ruth sojourn back to Naomi’s homeland, her she now longer looks upon herself as Naomi, and calls herself Mara, indicating she has suffered deeply.

As this story unfolds we see how Ruth is eventually led to meet her new husband, and the result of this a son is born. In Naomi’s old age she is graced with her grandson, she no longer sees herself as Mara, she is blessed by the Lord. Additionally Naomi is blessed to nurse her grandson Obed in her old age.

There are two points that strike me about Naomi.

  • She endured the trials and tests of her life, and had the grace and humility to lead, teach and counsel the generation following her.
  • Naomi’s story is one of great intrigue, as it displays the plans of God being worked out, His Sovereign will is accomplished in the midst of what would appear on the surface as random or unrelated events.

“The mind of man plans his way,

But the Lord directs his steps.”

Proverbs 16:9

Scripture relates the outcome of this beautiful story, Obed fathers Jesse, and Jesse, David, and eventually The Son of Man. The patience endurance of Naomi, and her expression of life yielded fruit beyond anything she could have imagined. All of this is a testimony to the beauty of our Lord, and the workmanship of His hands.

So we see the Fruit of patience during fiery trial.

Trust is an Expression of Faith…

The promise of Issac took on depth, as Abraham in Faith by Grace listened and obeyed the Word.

Faith follows through with the Word, all by Grace, this Trust in action.

He that asks of us our all, is abundantly capable to provide beyond our ability to see our understand. Yet as we move in Grace, His blessings astound us, in His Love.

“Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the LORD it will be provided.” Genesis 22:14

Living Hope….

“And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” Romans 5:5 NLT

“be still and…”

“be still and know…”

This relates to various experiences, yet the one common trait is seeking our Lords input, not leaning into our perception, but allowing Him, in whatever way He uses, to speak into our hearts.

To Trust is to apply, to walk in, and yield to His still small voice. Trust moves us from what we know, to the obscure, all in His desire for us to know Him deeper, truer, and faithful.

Trust, is the Fruit of Faith through Grace, and Trust, is a True expression of our Love.

Will He find it?

True Faith is Alive, Active, and Life-giving

In the christian world faith is a term that is used yet often misunderstood. Many express they have faith, or that when events are difficult its often said “have faith”, faith is often seen like a spare tire, you only need it when something went flat in your life.

Jesus made a statement, and it for us to understand what He meant.

“And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:7,8

What Jesus was eluding to what Faith is, when we see what Faith is, we also see what it isn’t.

His first question is regarding those that are seeking Him, and His righteousness day and night. In other words hungering and thirsting for His Kingdom, and His Nature, which is filled with Light and Truth. It is in His Faith they are doing so, for without His Faith we are spinning our wheels.

What we see in the next sentence is another question, will He find Faith. To understand this we must see that our Lord is looking for His Faith, which is a gift by His grace. His Faith is vastly different than our human based faith. We don’t work Faith up, and it’s not something we use like a spare tire, it is absolutely vital to our walk into Him, for without His Faith, we are dead.  “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:26

Faith that is alive, must come from a Life source, and this is from our Lords grace, it is an aspect of His Nature. We receive His Faith as we live and move into His Lordship.

Faith gives us eyes to see beyond this realm. Faith is the root of Trust,  that works inwardly, it is by His Faith that we yield ourselves more fully to His will. It is by Faith that we move, and have our being in Him.

Faith is our foundation

Faith is the source to Life. It is only by His Faith, that His Living Word becomes alive within us. It is by His Faith that we find our citizenship outside of this earthly realm. “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;” Philippians 3:20

It is by His Faith we turn our backs upon the ways of this world, and walk into His Nature. It is by His Faith we, like our father Abraham move from the homeland of our carnal thinking, into His realm of Life in Spirit and Truth. It is by His Faith, we embrace the work of our cross, and enduring all, Trusting Him who is Faithful and True with joy and hope. The Living Hope of His Life being brought forth in our life.

Living Faith works His nature into us, this is what is often misunderstood by many when they read, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:” Genesis 1:26

This is a prophetic Word, one that only becomes true in His Faith. By our natural birth we are not created in His image or after His likeness, this is only possible as we in Faith allow our Lord to create us anew. This is Faith and works together, His Life bringing us into a realm of Spirit and Truth, and our sharing this with others.

We begin to experience being born from above, becoming a New Creation in His image, and likeness. Bone of His bone, flesh of His flesh. This is the beauty of His calling, to become like He is in Spirit and Truth.

So when Jesus asked shall he find faith on the earth?” He was pondering will He find those who are given unto Him, and living in and through His Spirit, all by His Faith.

“And without faith it is impossible to please, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
By faith Noah, being warned  about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.
By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise;
for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” Hebrews 11:6~10

Our walk is only in His Faith, and in this walk, our desire is regardless of our condition, or situation to be pleasing unto Him.

“Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord— for we walk by faith, not by sight— we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:6~10

May we see Him and find our being, our very life found in His Faith.

and the Greatest of these is…

Our Walk into our Lord…

Paul in his letter to the body at Corinth addressed many issues regarding our walk into our Lord. He outlined that we are to desire and appropriate the nature of our Lord, to grow in His grace, and to experience His nature transferred to us in the Spirit of Christ.

As he continued his letter, he opens our hearts to see in the realm of Spirit, into the very heart and being of our Lord. He states there is something beyond the basics, he calls it excellent.

“But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.”
1 Corinthians 12:31

Our Lord through Paul is revealing vital life giving Truth.  Paul reveals the nature of God, and how we here and now can partake, abide, eat and drink this Life, all through our coming into harmony with our Lord. The key that unlocks the treasure chest, is submitting to our Lord and walking under His Lordship. From this all things are possible, life beyond anything we can image is awaiting us.

It’s not found by our striving, nor our best efforts, it had nothing to do with our physical condition, or status in this world. It has everything to do with our hearts being open unto our Lord, and allowing His grace, which is His presence, to transform our nature. Not making us a better person, no He wants us to become a new creation.

Paul starts this discourse by showing what happens so often, we see something in scripture and then we try to become it, or do it, on our own. This is utter folly.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (agape), I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
1 Corinthians 13:1

Much is said about this Love, yet we must see this is beyond our human capacity, His Love is far more than charity, or a higher level of love. It is His very being, it is His Nature, in a word it is, God. With this in mind lets open the above scripture.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (The Nature of God, the very Life of Christ, and become a New Creation), I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. What Paul is expressing here is exactly what Jesus said as He walked the earth. “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” John 5:30

Paul is stating that without our Lords nature moving us, enabling us to accomplish something, we are harsh, our words or actions are devoid of our Lords Life. Why we must ask? It is because we are speaking from our nature, our perspective, and it is not from our Father. We must ask our Lord, is this your will? Am I speaking from your authority?

Trust Him, He will answer you, if we sincerely ask, He will respond. If we are speaking from our authority regardless of how or what we say, it does not carry or express our Lords nature, it is not Living or Alive. The letter kills, this is speaking from our nature, only when spoken from the Spirit can it being Life.

This is what Paul was expressing earlier “And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 2 Corinthians 2:4~6

We must come to see our unparalleled need to submit unto our Lord, and to embrace His work of inward transformation. Embracing the work of our cross. So that His Life, Nature and Love come forward in us. No man can find this without death, death to their nature. His grace is sufficient, and His workmanship pure, it’s all a matter of trust, faith and love.

“And though I have prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not agape, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not agape, it profiteth me nothing.”

1 Corinthians 13:2, 3

Our Lord is expressing through Paul that we are not capable to do His will, to speak His Word, or accomplish tasks, while noble in intent, they fall flat in His eyes. It profits nothing, we mast allow this to sink in, we must seek our Lord with an open heart, and in His grace see His Life flow through us. This is His deep desire, and His pure intent, for us to become channels to express His nature, but, it is on His terms, and His way.

So we see how Paul first of all expresses the need for a new way, as he called it an “excellent way” how does this come about?

Faith Hope & Love

Each man is given a measure of Faith, this is the very Seed of Christ within each of us. How this Seed is nourished determines the outcome. If we operate from fear, doubt, distraction or rebellion this Seed lies dormant. If we seek Him with this Seed we will find Him, and this Seed of His Faith will grow. This is the parable of the Mustard Seed coming to be true within us. Faith moves us on His journey, and in this we begin to awaken to His Life, and walk with increasing Faith which comes to us in His grace.

Hope is seeing Life beyond our human limitations, hope is to become a New Creation. The old order, our old nature overcome by His pure holy and true Nature. “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” 1 Corinthians 15:19

Hope is of Christ, and not of this age, or our nature, true hope is in becoming a New Creation, this is the message of Christ’s gospel. Paul’s letter to the church at Colosse opens our understanding to true hope.

“Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church: Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God; the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.”

Colossians 1:24~28

It is through much tribulation, tests and trials that we see His workmanship being accomplished within us. Yet in this we rejoice, for we see and know Him who is Love through these life changing events.

“We also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

Romans 5:3-5.

Faith builds true Hope, and from this we begin to enter into a realm of Life that is True, the Life of God as expressed in the Spirit of Christ. Here we walk with His eyes, heart and Faith, partaking of the meal He sets before us, His flesh and blood. This is symbolic language for partaking His Nature. His Nature is Love. Love is not separate from Faith or Hope, but Faith and Hope are only found in Love.

“Love is patient, love is kind is not jealous; love does not brag is not arrogant,
does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong , does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails; but if prophecy, they will be done away; if tongues, they will cease; if knowledge, it will be done away.

For we know in part and we prophesy in part; but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.

When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.

For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.

But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

1 Corinthians 13:4~13

The greatest is Love, for this one word expresses the Nature of God our Father. We must become a New Creation in Christ, and in this be channels of His Nature, here today in a world that so deeply needs His Living Word expressed.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

1 John 4:7~11

Move out to Move In

His Ways are Much Higher

This morning our Lord is opening my heart up to see beyond what I’ve previously understood.

I’ll say that our calling in much more important than we currently see or understand, and it is incumbent upon us to seek and keep seeking our Lords heart.

Whatever enlightenment we have, is only so we can have a greater enlightenment today.

We must be open to our Lords desire to show us more and more of Him.

This is Isaiah 43:18, 19, and He asks us…will you be aware of it???

He pierced my heart this morning with two things.

  • The foolishness of the political realm, and the attention I was giving it.

  • The vital, critical and significant purpose of Him and my need to have my heart set in this realm.

He asked me, “when did you see me teach the disciples to be involved with Caesar?”

Our calling is an ever present calling of moving out of our limited, fallen, and rebellious nature. And moving into His unlimited, righteous, and subservient Nature.

Paul expressed this, and there is so much to see here, remembering we are to ask and keep asking, seek and keep seeking our Lord and His fullness.

Ephesians 1:19~23
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
And what the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set at his own right hand in the heavenly,
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
And hath put all under his feet, and gave him the head over all  to the church,
Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

This is a new day….
